Meta AI Calls on WhatsApp? Get Ready for Hands-Free AI Conversations!

WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.8.7 update is here and as per WBI the messaging platform is working on a feature that will enable users to have call-like sessions with Meta AI just like OpenAI's ChatGPT. This new feature which is under-development right now and it will feature a Meta AI interface that will allow users to have voice interactions with AI and it will make their experience more intuitive. With this new feature, no more button-mashing — just open the interface, and Meta AI jumps in, ready to chat. It seems that WhatsApp is working to make Meta AI useful and engaging for users.

Users will be able to continue the conversation even after switching apps. This will give users a hands-free and seamless interaction with Meta AI. For example, users can browse a website and ask Meta AI questions about the content in real time while being on call. This will not only make the AI experience more practical, but users will also be able to multitask.

As the whole experience is call-like, users will be able to have full control over it. They can mute the microphone whenever they want because of privacy, can switch to text-based chat if they prefer it, and can end their call session with Meta AI anytime. Android’s built-in privacy indicator will also tell users whenever the microphone is active and as the indicator is managed by the OS, no app can bypass it.

This feature will be helpful to users who prefer voice communication over typing. Whenever users need an AI assistant without stopping their tasks, they can use this feature to multitask and have a useful voice call with AI. This feature is under development and there is no news about when it will be accessible or even released to users.
