LinkedIn has revealed top professional skills based on LinkedIn members and job listing data in its new report, which is an expansion of its annual Work Change Report. The report looked at top rising skills in 15 different sectors what the users are adding to their profiles and which ones are listed on LinkedIn ad postings. It is no surprise that AI skills are most needed on the platform because of how technology and businesses are adopting AI.
The number one skill that is rising on LinkedIn in 2025 is AI literacy, which is followed by content mitigation and adaptability. Some other top skills include public speaking, customer engagement and support, process optimization, and stakeholder management. The report also mentioned innovative thinking, solution-based selling, LLM development, and application and growth strategy as the top skills on LinkedIn. Budget & Resource management, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and GTM strategy are also among the top 15 skills mentioned by LinkedIn members and job postings.
Many LinkedIn users are seen adding “Artificial Intelligence” as a skill after using tools like GitHub CoPilot and ChatGPT but this doesn't mean that they truly have technical expertise. To clarify that, LinkedIn has added ‘AI literacy’ as a skill which shows that someone with this skill has familiarity and not expertise in model building or AI development. More advanced AI skills like working with LLMs have also appeared on the list. Even basic AI skills are also becoming highly needed in the job market and many businesses are prioritizing employees with AI-related expertise.
