OpenAI's ChatGPT has reached major milestones ever since its release and its growth hasn't slowed down even though there were many obstacles in its way like local and international rivals.
ChatGPT’s mobile revenue has now set a new monthly all-time high record after the revenue started rising in February 2025. Appfigures reports that they had been monitoring ChatGPT’s revenue since the launch of its mobile app in 2023 and now ChatGPT mobile app has reached $100 million of consumer spending across Google Play and App Store. This revenue is the highest any app has ever earned in a month.
If we look at ChatGPT’s mobile app's previous milestones, we find that it reached $1 million in consumer spending in 12 days and $10 million in 8 months. It took 13 months for ChatGPT to reach $25 million in consumer spending and 17 months to reach $50 million in revenue across Google Play and App Store. ChatGPT reached the $100 million mobile app revenue milestone in 22 months. ChatGPT saw $725 million in consumer spending ever since its release, and 81% of the revenue came from the App Store. 38% of the App Store revenue and 27% of the Google Play revenue of ChatGPT comes from the US.
Many of the other companies like xAI with Grok are also seeing some rise in its revenue, with a rise in growth seen from February. Appfigures estimates that Grok’s first 30 days of monetization resulted in $2.7 million of consumer spending from the App Store as it hasn't been released on Google Play properly. Now the question is whether Grok can grow at the same rate as ChatGPT.
