iPhone Pro Users Upgrade Faster, Driving Apple's Revenue Growth

Counterpoint Research conducted a new survey to find out some insights about Apple users across China, UK, US and India, the big four Apple markets. According to the survey, users of iPhone who are using pro models replace their models faster than users who use base models of iPhone. Most users of pro iPhone use their smartphones for an average of 2.75 years while base model users use their smartphones for 3.15 years on average before replacing them. Most of the iPhone users are driving towards premiumization of their smartphone and this is the major factor of increase in iPhones’ YoY revenue. Southeast Asia and India are going to see a rise in this trend for 2-3 years as they are emerging markets for iPhone now.

45% of the iPhone pro models users call themselves innovators and say that they need to have the latest models of iPhone as soon as it is launched. On the other hand, 25% claim to be opinion leaders who need to adapt to new iPhone models earliest and that's why pro model users keep on upgrading their iPhones. As iPhone users keep on changing their models, they have to upgrade to pro models so they can experience the latest features and technology in smartphones.
Pro models are doing very well in major markets but it is also expected that the pro series of iPhones will do well over the next 2 to 3 years in secondary markets. Most of the Android users are also switching to iPhones, with 48% of the participants in the survey saying that they were previously Android users. The smartphone companies which experienced the biggest losses with Android users switching to iPhones were Google and Samsung. This is the reason many smartphone companies like OnePlus, Samsung and Vivo are integrating GenAI features in new models of smartphones to attract more customers.
