It’s no surprise that AI is taking over the tech world and many platforms have incorporated the technology into their offerings.
The next stage in the world of AI is agents or tools that can carry out tasks on users’ behalf and it appears that Meta is experimenting with that notion on Instagram.
Thanks to social media expert Alessandro Paluzzi, we can see that the platform is testing a new create task prompt inside DMs so users don’t have to take on the task themselves. It’s nothing extremely new as we’ve already seen OpenAI launch a similar offering through its Operator feature. This enables the chatbot to carry out any web-based task depending on the user’s request.
Meta seems to be following in its footsteps with something similar through this latest task assignment addition, depending on DMs. Can can be seen in the screenshot that was shared recently, the Create Task prompt inside DMs gives users the chance to carry out tasks, depending on what the message entails.
That might be convenient to enable follow-ups on specific notes and alerts and it can really transform into a more reliable and useful addition.
The full usage is still going to be miles away and AI agents need a lot of fine-tuning to get rid of their teething issues. The goal is that these AI tools are powered by devices such as Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses that enable users to ask assistants to perform actions on their behalf.
Moreover, this allows the system to be attuned to users’ personal preferences, their specifics, and budgets. That might be more beneficial than the usual chatbot interface. We know that there’s a long way to go. Still, seeing it in testing on Instagram is exciting and might give rise to an early step in the right direction, if you ask us.
Nothing better for a creator with thousands of followers to have a little extra help to send out replies on DMs on time, right?
