It looks like tech giant Google is trying to promote more AI through its popular Chrome browser.
The company was recently spotted working on a new AI feature called automatic password change. And in case you’re wondering, Chrome has something similar in place already but that only alerts users to change a password and nothing else.
This latest feature will give Chrome AI the option to highlight the website’s data breach and also take action to benefit the user. The function was first spotted by X tipster Leopeva64 on Chrome Canary’s deep dive. He was able to dig out the description of how Chrome will offer a password change when signed in, whenever there is a password data breach episode.
The news is going to pop up right above Chrome on users’ desktops. After they sign in, the browser will produce an alert and a need for checking passwords. After the credentials are confirmed to be exposed, it would do a quick swap to ensure data protection.
For now, it’s just too soon to say anything but Google does provide fast glimpses if users let AI do the job for them. Google did say that users don’t need to recall any password if it’s generated through AI. The software will throw those new credentials in the password manager.
The earliest description does talk about all things produced by AI on Chrome being encrypted so no one will have a clue about this except the user. Meanwhile, another exciting new feature coming is the automated password change feature. When the browser finds that one of the passwords was involved in this data breach, they offer a change to it so that you can sign in with ease.
It’s quite like the rest of the browser’s ecosystem where AI in Chrome continues to grow as we speak. There are more changes made to permissions so that less intrusive demands are made. This makes alerts appear in a more quieter mode, depending on what you might be browsing. If the Chrome browser feels you’re less likely to give what it’s demanding, then it would remain quieter than usual.
In other places, we’re seeing Google experiment with more improved software for AI detection. This is used for phishing and for getting rid of online scams. The feature enables Chrome to scan the page to find the true intentions at different sites to avoid them showing fake faces. The goal is to showcase the page’s suspicious intents so you’re wary from the start. This is to prevent unnecessary clicks over sensitive data.
There is quite a bit of things that Google is working on for Chrome including the Help Me Write feature and more generative AI updates that were shared last year. This means users can open AI directly to produce something and also give AI to create something new depending on what is present on the webpage.
