According to data shared by Appfigures Intelligence, X’s revenue increased in the last month of 2024 thanks to its loyal consumers' spending, and it is all because of one strategic move X made which many other platforms will soon employ too. In December 2024, the gross revenue of X on Google Store and App Store was $25 million. After the fees of both Google Store and App Store, Elon Musk got $17.6 million. X got $25 million in December after almost getting $24 million revenue in November. Some might think that this increase in revenue was because of elections in the US and some other factors but this isn't the case if we look at the daily revenue of X.
There were two strategies that X applied to get the most revenue in the last month. First was a Black Friday Sale and the second one was the End of Year Sale. X ran a lot of promotions of these two sales in the last month of 2024 which made X’s revenue one of the highest it has ever been. The data by Appfigures Intelligence shows that because of Black Friday sale, the revenue of X reached $1.9 million in just one day. Even though this may not seem like a lot, it is about five times higher the amount X gets on average.
Most of the revenue because of these sales came from the US App Store and Japan’s App Store came second. Japan has contributed a lot in X revenue and the growth of X in the country isn't going to slow anytime soon. The US will also not see any slow growth of X even though it has become very political in the past year. Now we will have to see what more strategies X will apply on the platform to generate more revenue.
The strategic brilliance of X lies in its ability to adapt commerce techniques traditionally seen in retail, blending them seamlessly into a digital platform. By prioritizing user-centric promotions, it demonstrates how modern tech companies can evolve beyond conventional app monetization models, setting benchmarks for integrating seasonal consumer psychology with platform-specific value propositions.
