According to Appfigures, December 2024 was one of the best months for different types of games and apps in terms of revenue. Every app in the top ten highest earning apps saw decent increase in revenue. After combining the total revenue of apps on iOS App Store and Google Play, TikTok was the app with highest revenue in December 2024. Taking $276 million from iOS App Store and $60 million from Google Play, TikTok got $336 million combined. This is the highest revenue TikTok has ever earned in a month and it is surprising because TikTok is on the verge to get banned in the US soon.
The app with second highest revenue was Google's YouTube, with $136 million coming from the iOS App Store alone. YouTube didn't see much growth in revenue from November 2024, but it still gained high revenue. Disney+ was the app with third highest revenue in December 2024 ($130 million), with $84 million from iOS App Store and $46 million coming from Google Play. Tinder ($104 million) and Max ($81 million) were the fourth and fifth apps with highest revenues.
Other apps with the highest revenues in December 2024 were Tencent Videos ($73 million), Google One ($61 million), CapCut ($59 million), ChatGPT ($55 million) and QQ Music ($55 million). The only app which wasn't in the top ten apps with highest revenues in November 2024 was CapCut. CapCut got most of the revenue from the App Store ($52 million) in December 2024 and wasn't in the top ten highest revenues on Google Play. Now we have to see what fate holds for CapCut because its revenue is tied with TikTok. Overall, there was a $1.1 billion net worth of top ten highest earning apps in December 2024. It was the highest month of revenue for the apps and we will have to see how consistent it remains in 2025.
