It looks like Meta never fails to get inspired by arch-rivals in the industry as can be seen with its latest Media tab offering for Threads.
The company just added a new Media tab for both pictures and videos on the app. The news comes just days after we saw Blusky and X do the same for their own media content. Moreover, Meta shard how it would also give users the chance to tag people inside the pictures shared.
As per the head of Instagram and Threads, the feature will give many viewers the chance to see all the images and videos shared on the social media platform. Adam Mosseri says it was a highly anticipated request from users and he’s glad that it’s been fulfilled.
This might also assist Threads compete with other dedicated video-first apps including the famous TikTok, whose ban in the US is on hold for the time being. The feature is said to be rolling out slowly to users around the globe. It also comes with another exciting markup feature as shared by the company last week. This gives users the chance to add their opinions to another user’s post.
The changes are great and come right after CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared how Threads has hit 320 million MAU this year, which is a great rise from the previous 300M users seen in December.
The growth is clearly worth a mention as Bluesky also saw a slowdown in its own growth as it grew less than 10% MoM in December when compared to the huge 189% growth seen the month before. Still, despite the slower rise in users, it’s doing great in terms of overall success.
So far, tech giant Meta keeps on working to add more users to its Threads by routinely introducing new features. We saw the post scheduler shared recently be another popular offering. Other than that, it just rolled out the following profile options from different fediverse servers, AI summaries, and customized feed options.
