Telegram Enhances Security with Third-Party Verification and Introduces NFT Gifts

Telegram just shared its latest update for 2025 and it includes a list of exciting new features.

For starters, the app launched a new method for verifying public figures and organizations accounts that are supported by third parties. We already saw the platform roll out a program where public figures get verified and the same was the case for companies. Now, it’s also rolled out a new initiative where verified third parties authenticate other accounts. Common examples include food regulators and educators.

Any new account receiving the green signal for verification will feature new icons aside from their names which is a great change instead of the classic blue verification tick seen elsewhere.

Speaking about the latest feature in its new blog post, Telegram shared how it hopes this can add another verification step that stops fraud and limit misinformation. It’s a handy solution that gives rise to a new standard for safety on social media.

Any person or company that wishes to get the authentication can first undergo steps for verification, followed by an application where their eligibility is confirmed for receiving the verification mark. Anyone interested can also make use of bot API from the app to delete verification or add it. So it’s quite similar to the way X offers verification to companies who could buy it and enable verification for any associated accounts. After getting the green light, they will feature the company’s logo on the accounts after getting verified.

Telegram shared another way to transform gifts into NFTs through a new feature that makes use of customized background displays or icons. Any user wishing to send a gift can use their Telegram Stars that are purchased through the platform. You can even make a purchase through its Fragment site by linking the TON crypto wallet.

Any user who wants to take part in trading NFTs through different apps will be allowed to do so easily. Remember, Telegram also charges people when they upgrade gifts to other forms of collectibles that cover costs linked to blockchain transactions.

The app is already known for using crypto for game payments and mini-apps. The same is the case for monetization efforts for creators. So as you can see, the goal seems to be expanding on that front.

Last but not least, the platform is rolling out a new and unique emoji feature for different service messages like new members joining certain groups. It’s also shared some innovative search filters for different channels including private chats and group chats.
