OpenAI Rolls Out New ‘ChatGPT Gov’ To Better Support The American Public Sector

There’s no surprise in the fact that the American government has been weary of ChatGPT since the day of its launch. However, it seems like Sam Altman might have found the perfect solution to curb those issues.

OpenAI just unveiled a new government-friendly variant of its famous ChatGPT app. This is created to better the capabilities of the public sector and also streamline access of government agencies to more frontier systems on offer by the company.

A new blog post published by OpenAI yesterday shed light on how it feels the latest model could make officials more confident about using AI to better productivity. They also shared how AI is the future and can enhance efficiency for America’s leadership when used safely. This might be related to Trump’s executive order rolled out recently about getting rid of any barriers in the AI leadership.

Federal agencies located in America can make use of the latest customized AI chatbot through the Microsoft Azure commercial cloud. It’s also accessible through the Azure government cloud on top of the regular OpenAi service.

The company’s CPO made it very clear recently that it wanted to leverage the app in the government domain. He also shared how this was needed to mark America’s leadership in AI on the world map. Furthermore, Kevin Weil highlighted how such tools carry great potential for supporting the public sector in overcoming complex issues. It could better public health and even strengthen national security.

The government will be in charge of managing its own requirements for privacy, security, and better compliance. This entails a better framework for cybersecurity and also for handling sensitive data that are out of public reach. The goal is to achieve all the above-mentioned tasks more simply.

OpenAI also vowed to keep on showing support for its Enterprise product and making sure it complied with regulations from the government. Marketing several features such as GPT-4o’s Enterprise model, the company says more than 90k users across different US Federal states and public agencies were using the ChatGPT tool in their daily routines.

Common examples of sectors where it’s prevalent include the Air Force, national labs and biosciences, and the commonwealth domain. The tool is used to carry out daily services in administration, coding, translations, and AI education, and also limiting time spent on doing simple tasks.
