Your ChatGPT, Your Rules: OpenAI Teases Exciting Customization Options for Users

The makers of ChatGPT are experimenting with an exciting feature for users to customize interactions.

The feature was first noticed by a few users who spoke more on the matter through X, though some said it vanished after appearing for few hours. User who tested it shared how it would entail a customized instructions menu with a new and improved design. So this means users would be able to add a certain name or nickname, their career, and other personal details that they would like the AI tool to know beforehand. Another interesting aspect is the option to add a trait that they want this chatbot to entail.

A worth mentioning point is that this feature is unrelated to the tool’s memory option embedded inside. The latter allows users to select which kinds of information they want the tool to recall about them and which they would like to forget. It’s not only personal data but those covering a wide array of communication-related information.

Introducing oneself to get a reply that’s more customized and better would be the number one goal right now, a message shared on the new menu read. For now, you don’t see the options popping up but we do hope to get an update on this soon.

The latest test of menu is quite like an esthetic makeover rather than an actual tech upgrade. The old customized instructions option uses prompt engineering to help alter style and tone. So it trained the tool with custin instructions, just so replies stuck to certain choices and preferences.

So what we can tell is how the latest option still has a heavy reliance on quick engineering. It presents things so much more clearly and in a user-friendly manner. In the past, we saw OpenAI speak about adding moderation for customized interactions. This would check if they stuck to certain terms of use. Thankfully, that has not changed in the personalized settings.

OpenAI looks to make ChatGPT so much better as the user base keeps on growing as we speak. It wants to include better capabilities such as a live search option on the web and another Canvas interface that’s specifically tailored to writing tasks.

Remember, it’s growing each day and as per stats published by the company in December of last year, current usage is 300M every single week.
