Is the Old Facebook Coming Back? Zuckerberg Teases Major 2025 Transformation!

If you happen to miss the old Facebook then there’s hope that the OG version of the app might be returning sooner than later.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg just shared some details with investors about how he’d like to transform the Facebook app into the old and loveable platform that it once used to be. Clearly, he’s got a lot of work cut out for him, seeing the poor state of affairs and rising AI content on the platform.

However, big changes are coming soon, similar to the way the app was when you probably signed up. The decision was shared by the Facebook owner during the firm’s latest earnings call. This is where he delineated more about how the app is an integral part of billions of people’s lives. Therefore, he wants it to be more relevant than where it stands today.

While no specifics were shared about what changes users can expect and when he just hoped that this year would be exciting to get some of the old loveable features back up and running again. This would be a priority for 2025, he added.

He hopes that the changes can also give rise to more interesting products with bigger investments. Now as per experts, getting the old Facebook could actually mean a host of different things but nothing definitive of what to expect. Remember, returning the OG Facebook does not mean stripping out modern features. It means getting back content that users would adore and share. He similarly hopes the same for his Reels Instagram and Facebook, no matter what the fate of TikTok ends up being in the US.

If you know the tech world, then you’re aware that change does not come easy. Getting one thing on board might mean cutting costs somewhere else. Zuckerberg hinted at that with talks about gains and losses with products and finances. It’s all very interesting that out of his long list of priorities including Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, Messenger, it’s Facebook that he’d like to bring back and make great again.

During the earnings call, we found out that the app has more than 3 billion active users each month. Zuckerberg wants to add more cultural influence to the platform and he’s already working with the team to achieve that. What and when is the question that remains right now.
