AI Adoption in Workplaces: From Time Savings to Skill Development and Job Satisfaction

Adobe Express recently conducted a survey among 1,000+ US workers to find how adoption of AI is influencing their productivity, responsibility and overall job satisfaction. There is no doubt that AI has brought a lot of benefits for workers as they can use it to make their job easier and complete many tasks in a short time. The results of the survey also found that there has been a change in how employees see their tasks and responsibilities now because of AI adaptability in workplaces. 51% of the respondents said that AI has made their jobs easier, as they can use AI for countless of things like making presentations, creating blog posts and even coding. The respondents who said that AI has made their jobs easier had jobs related to marketing (67%), tech (70%) and retail (59%).

There were also 7% of the respondents who said that AI has made their jobs harder. It was also found that organizational hierarchies also played a role in how respondents perceived AI in workplaces. 62% of the managers said that AI has improved their workplace, but only 47% of the employees said so. The workers reported that AI saves an average 1.7 hours of their time every day, and about 8.5 hours weekly. 70% of the Gen-Z who used AI tools reported saving most of their time because of AI, with an average two hours saved daily. Millennials saved an average 1.7 hours daily because of AI, while Baby Boomers saved 1.3 hours daily.
64% of the respondents said that they are not concerned with job security due to the rise of AI in workflows. 38% also said that AI has improved their job satisfaction, while 7% said it has worsened it. The respondents with improved job satisfaction due to AI were from tech (57%), marketing (48%), retail (38%) and healthcare (36%) fields. 25% of the respondents also said that AI in workplaces has improved their mental health. 42% from small organizations reported job satisfaction due to AI, while 34% from the large organizations said so.

1 in 3 workers have learned a new skill due to AI integration in their workplaces, with tech workers (44%) learning the most. The new skills employees have learned because of AI are AI promoting (67%), data analysis tools (40%), coding language (19%) and design software (19%). 74% of the respondents said that they feel confident that they can easily adapt to any future changes AI will bring. 1 in 5 respondents also reported that their company hasn't provided any support to learn AI skills, with respondents from marketing fields more likely to report this. On the other hand, 82% of the companies have provided support to their employees to learn AI skills.
