Elon Musk’s Grok AI chatbot is getting an upgrade with a new array of features. The news comes after it was made available to many for free.
The product is from the company’s xAI initiative which Musk says is the future and separate from the X Corp branding. It mostly relies on insights from X to power replies which combines both the X platform and xAI.
The company just raised a whopping $6B in terms of funding and creating the massive AI computing cluster inside Memphis but that’s just the start of fun for X. So what does this latest lineup of features for Grok AI include?
For starters, it combines X and web search data to better the replies from the chatbot. Secondly, replies entail reference links and citations for better clarity of outputs. Also, the image generator is better and there’s even a new Grok button for the app’s posts. It just makes it so much easier to get more context on any posts seen on the platform.
Next, users see another updated icon as the box is no longer present but it now comes with a slash in the latest logo design. This helps to differentiate its function. Other than that, the app is conducting trials for audio queries so users get the chance to ask questions vocally.
This makes it so much more in line with the offerings seen with Meta AI that’s already up for grabs for voice replies in the Ray-Ban glasses by Meta. However, it’s quite clear that Musk hasn’t been targeting Meta’s AI plans.
The real focus right now is OpenAI which is the company that assisted in establishing the starting stages before getting ousted from this project as a lot of demands were there to be in control.
Musk was a part of the founding members but the fact that the company shifted from its main goal of being non-profit to now being the biggest AI leader in the world is baffling to him. He simply couldn’t tolerate his ideas being rejected and ended up leaving the company withdrawing all of his donations with it.
So Musk is certainly ramping up the xAI front that is also collaborating with Tesla’s initiative of self-driving tech. We’re not quite sure that AI chatbots will add a great deal to the entire social media experience of users but we do know that people will certainly not find the changes valuable to them. Remember, it’s up for grabs to 570M users already.
