According to a new survey conducted by Sell Cell, a tech gadgets sales platform, many users of AI-capable smartphones haven't used the AI features of those devices yet. Many companies including Samsung, Apple and Google have introduced their AI capable smartphones and are advertising their AI tools as the main selling point for smartphones. But it was found that users do not care about AI features in smartphones. The survey found that 73% of Apple Intelligence users do not find value in its AI features, while 86% of Samsung and Galaxy users feel the same about AI features in their smartphones.
58% of Apple users out of 1,000 surveyed said that they haven't tried using Apple AI features yet. Apple has already introduced AI features in its iOS 18.1 and 18.2 update this October, but users seem uninterested in using AI features. The survey also asked users who have used Apple AI features about which features they use the most. 72% said that they use AI writing tools, followed by 54% who use AI for notification summaries and 44.5% who use it for priority messages. Only 3.1% of the Apple users have used Siri with AI features. When Apple users were asked why they do not use AI features on their Apple smartphones, 57.6% said that they haven't updated their smartphone, 36.7% said that they do not think AI features are useful for them and 18.2% do not trust the accuracy of AI features.
53.1% of Samsung smartphone users also haven't used AI features, with people saying the same thing as Apple users that they don't find AI features helpful (44.2%), AI having inaccurate information (35.5%) and concerns related to privacy (30.1%). The reasons why Samsung users used AI features the most was because of suggestions regarding photo editing (55.5%), Circle to Search (82.1%) and assisting to chat (28.8%). The AI tools which were least used by Samsung smartphone users were interpreter mode (1.3%) and real-time translations (1.1%).
