The tension continues to grow between OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Tesla owner Elon Musk.
Altman didn’t stop firing shots at Musk as he recently labeled him as a clear bully who enjoys picking fights with other rivals. This is even though we saw Altman share some positive words about Musk and his work in the past.
The news comes after Musk continued to rage in a long legal battle with OpenAI. Remember, the duo did begin the project together but at the moment, the relationship is such that things are getting more complicated.
In another interview conducted with The Free Press, Altman shed light on the OpenAI cofounder’s bullying nature and how his feud with him was transforming into a major sideshow. This comes after Musk’s critical comments related to the AI startup and the CEO who happens to be Altman.
Musk filed another lawsuit in August against the firm, accusing it of deception with the motives behind the company’s original goal not being disclosed from the start. Both Sam Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman’s name was highlighted in this case.
Meanwhile, Musk also shared with the federal court how it was hoping to block the company from transforming into a for-profit organization. But OpenAI fired back at the claims by publishing a host of emails featuring how Musk was the one that pushed for it to transform into a for-profit firm while still working there. Now that he was retracting didn’t seem fair to them.
Musk was praised as a legendary entrepreneur by Altman in his past interviews and even acknowledged his great effort to assist OpenAI during its starting phase. Now, the words are changed to ‘clearly a bully’ and someone who enjoys getting into fights and arguments.
The OpenAI CEO also spoke about Musk’s animosity being deeply rooted in the company’s recent success and how it’s a direct competitor for his own firm. Remember, Musk rolled out xAI which is his own personal AI startup in 2023 and now the company has its own AI chatbot called Grok.
This is why Altman says that if Elon Musk was onboard with OpenAI, he’d be happy to see it succeed instead of behaving like this. The fact that he’s out but still the company is making great success says so much. ‘He thought we would fail’- the CEO added.
Musk is currently trying to stronghold his position in the Trump administration. Despite the strong political power, Altman commented that he did not believe the billionaire would use such power to get after his rivals in the tech world.
He hopes that Musk will not abuse the system for his own benefit despite behaving erratically on the X app. For now, no comments were made on this matter either OpenAI or Elon Musk.
