OpenAI Reveals Ambitious Growth Plans To Hit 1 Billion Users by 2025

Tech giant OpenAI is shedding light on how it plans to make 2025 a year of growth and prosperity.

The makers of ChatGPT are on the lookout to get 1 billion users next year. This means saying hello to increased growth with high strategies like data center creation. Sam Altman hinted at hitting user figures that surpass those belonging to leading tech giants. Common names mentioned include TikTok, Instagram, and others.

This will also include making big investments in the firm’s infrastructure for better AI models, its CFO detailed while talking to the FT recently. They did confirm how growth is taking place on a large scale and it motivates them to invest more. They’re more keen on being on the frontier sides for model fronts which is costly.

Today, its popular AI chatbot is the go-to tool for nearly 250M active users each week. The period before this was of great growth as well where 100M people joined in just two months after it was first launched. That’s mega considering AI features are something new and continue to grab users’ attention. At that moment in time, UBS analysts claim they can’t recall how any other app managed to attain this much success so fast.

Now for data centers, the company will need more computing tech to take on a massive rise in user figures and to train smarter AI models. Some discussions were also made about launching data center clusters in certain areas of America’s Midwest and Southwest regions so that it can attain the target.

Increasing capacities for data centers is a crucial point worth discussion for many AI giants. We saw in September how the firm even pitched to the White House about the need for a huge data center. They even spoke about the great power demands and requirements that such a project entails.
Sam Altman spoke about superintelligence and how he might already be engaging in deals with other investors to raise trillions. This will fund the needs required to design data centers. The company is also searching for more ways to enhance revenue and a business ads model might be in the works as well.

This goes against Sam Altman’s personal statement of resorting to ads for ChatGPT. Still, it’s a wonderful revenue stream if you ask us. It can give rise to a bigger and brighter future. So far, they’ve got no active plans to pursue this but you don’t know what the future might hold.

Last month, OpenAI confirmed raising a whopping $6.6B during a funding round that was led by a top venture capital company. This was done to build on leadership in the world of AI research and better computing capacity. Now, they also hope to design more tools and assist in solving complex issues.

The company also shared another strategic alliance with iPhone maker Apple. This would be a part of its plans to enhance the user base for ChatGPT.
