Big tech CEOs are running big companies and making big decisions which can potentially put their lives at risk. Donald Trump went through an attempted assassination, after which Elon Musk said that he also has experienced an attempted attack two times outside Tesla’s Texas headquarter. This makes us wonder what are the security costs of big tech CEOs because it is for sure that they have hired security companies to keep them safe.
Data taken from an analysis by Fortune Magazine shows the annual security costs of big tech companies in 2023. The data shows that Meta pays $23.4 millions to security companies to keep Mark Zuckerberg safe. Followed by Mark Zuckerberg was Google/Alphabet’s Sundar Pichai with security costs of $7 million.
The third place goes to Tesla which pays $2.4 million annually to protect Elon Musk. These costs may have increased in 2024 after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump because Elon Musk is now a part of Trump’s cabinet. The CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, pays $2.2 million for security costs. Apple’s Tim Cook pays $0.8 for his protection. In case all these figures seem unreal, only two fully trained bodyguards can cost $1 million per year.
