Apple’s CEO Shares Details About Company’s Plans For AI While Defending Its Vision Pro Headset

Apple CEO Tim Cook is shedding light on the company’s plans for AI while defending its decision to stick to the much-talked-about Vision Pro headset.

The news comes as the CEO took part in a new and exclusive interview for Wired Magazine. This is where he spoke more regarding AI strategies and also addressed criticisms linked to Apple’s delay in the AI race.

In regards to Apple Intelligence, he confirmed that there were never plans for adding a few to it for users. He added that it was a multitouch ordeal that allowed the smartphone revolution to come into place and also give rise to the latest modern tablet.

Apple Intelligence isn’t something new. It arose after years of hard work and planning, Cook shared. The framework does consist of neural engines dating back to 2017 and then in 2018, it hired a leading AI executive from Google.

Therefore, Cook feels there was no rush to hit the market if the background checks weren’t complete. As expected, Apple says privacy is key. Most AI processing taking place in Apple Intelligence only arises on user devices instead of the usual cloud. More complex matters are handled in secure parts of the company’s data centers.

Cook shared how AI isn’t boring and can be a lot of fun. You can summarize replies from authors or allow it to prioritize tasks so you’re more free. Then things like Image Playground are good fun as well.

Apple did unite with OpenAI for the sake of rolling out ChatGPT on Apple devices. When asked if the Cupertino firm was keen on making its own LLM, he left the door open. This does not mean he didn’t defend OpenAI who he says is the biggest pioneer of the industry.

Then came a thorough discussion about Vision Pro headsets. He was so optimistic about the future and how it could give rise to a growing economy of apps. The main factor here is evolving and leading to the production of compact AR glasses.

He further went on to mention bold predictions regarding the iPhone maker’s legacy. The biggest involvement will come from health care where you can use this device. Meanwhile, more discussion had to do with the Apple Watch and its great heart-monitoring features. Apple is busy with more studies for using AI for early medical conditions.
