Apple Rolls Out New Updates for iPhone, iPad, and Mac Software Including ChatGPT Integration with Siri

It’s the much-anticipated collaboration that many Apple users have been waiting for and now we can confirm that ChatGPT is finally integrating with Siri as part of the iPhone maker’s latest update.

The feature is triggered each time users request Siri for any difficult queries. Whenever Siri is bombarded with a new question that it deems could be better suited for ChatGPT, it will request permission to attain access. Apple already has many in-built privacy offerings in the device. Also, OpenAI will not store any kind of requests. This kind of integration utilizes the GPT 4o model.

As it is, Apple users can skip the hassle of opening OpenAI accounts to use ChatGPT integrations. However, users get the chance to pay for higher tiers via Apple. They can similarly access ChatGPT via text menus.

The new iOS 18.2 release is a huge milestone for the company and it hopes that this leads the way to Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 16 device. This is also the firm’s suite of AI features. The company first unveiled the breakthrough collab last year in June.

Apple rolled out the first part of this intelligence partnership in October and some features outlined were writing tools that not only rewrite but also proofread material. Other innovative offerings include screen glow and notification summary alerts.

The company hopes to roll out another similar update for Apple Intelligence in 2025 that entails major improvements to Siri. Common examples include the chance to take action inside its platforms.

So many investors feel Apple Intelligence can include features, boost sales for iPhones, and even mark Apple as the leader for consumer-based AI. It’s the collaboration that OpenAI must have been waiting for because targeting Apple users is a huge deal. We’re talking about putting its features up for grabs in the hands of millions with iOS. For now, neither party disclosed financial terms for these kinds of arrangements.

Users must have an iPhone 15, 15 Pro, or an iPhone 16 device for Apple Intelligence. Meanwhile, the ChatGPT integration is mostly based on cloud servers. Those with iPhones can switch on software updates inside the app Settings and click on the General tab.

After updating to this new Apple software, users get the chance to set up Apple Intelligence. The phones must be able to download huge files such as AI models needed for the operation of the feature.

Other updates shared yesterday by Apple include a new Playground image generator that makes images based on certain people, prompts, and Image Wand. Through the feature, users can make edits like removing flaws and objects from any picture.

It’s nice to see Apple get creative and give users more exciting features to look forward to before the year's end. We cannot help but think that the festive season was a strategic time to launch.
