Voice message transcripts are finally here! It’s a feature that many have been anticipating for so long from one of the world’s most popular texting apps and if you’re a part of that party, you might want to read further.
Meta confirmed that users can now read their voice messages when listening to them is not easy. This might be due to a lack of time or perhaps being present in a surrounding that’s too loud for you to focus on what’s being said.
The company made the announcement through the app’s official blog today where it says sending voice messages is the most personal form of communication. This is why the team has long been hard at work to provide transcripts so users can read what is in the message.
To make the most of the feature, users can transcribe the message to produce a text layout that’s designed to help in the conversation, no matter what you’re doing or where you might be.
The feature uses on-app processing which means it’s 100% private and secure and no one else can hear or read what is in the message. This is for all those privacy advocates who fear the latter.
The platform claims voice message transcripts are slowly rolling out to users so you can expect access to it very soon, even in the next couple of weeks! Also, the best bit is that it’s for free, unlike other popular apps that are giving the feature only to their paid subscribers.
Now we have to mention that not a lot of languages are supported in the rollout just yet. It’s very limited to English, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese for now. However, you can expect the app to roll out in various other languages soon.
To activate the feature, simply go to your app’s settings and press on Voice Message Transcripts found in Chats. Then select your language of choice and enjoy!
Some instances might arise where users are faced with Transcript Unavailable errors. However, the app says that might be the case if the language in the message isn’t supported, there’s too much noise in the surroundings, words used cannot be recognized, and so on.
