New Research Shows Generative AI can Help Teachers in Saving their Time and Making them More Productive

According to a recent study, the teachers who use AI for making study plans say that they feel more productive and get more work done in a short time. The research was done among 24 US K-12 teachers through observations, surveys and interviews. The results of the research showed that K-12 teachers use generative AI for making activities, quizzes and study points for students. Without using AI, they cannot do much in a short amount of time.

Using generative AI is also a great help for teachers because K-12 teachers require creative thinking to use their lesson plans while using technology in the class. Teachers do not only teach students, they have other responsibilities too like meeting parents, grading school work and preparing their teaching materials. They cannot do all of this at once and it requires a lot of time too. In this situation, generative AI works as a helper that lowers the burden.

When there is too much pressure to do multiple works, creativity levels can decrease. Teachers can feel stuck and they cannot use all of their ability to generate content that is helpful for students. The solution to this problem is AI which not only works quickly, but never gets tired too. But there is another factor too. It still takes a lot of time for teachers to get the desired output from AI and revise it accordingly.

In this case, schools should invest more on teaching teachers the effective and efficient use of AI. Teachers should be taught how to create prompts that will make AI generate the results they want. Some teachers also say that they are not seeing any good advantages of generative AI. So, they also need awareness of how they can use this technology for their own benefit.
