Google Fights Back Against DOJ’s ‘Radical’ Claim Of Selling Chrome, Warns Of Devastating Consequences

The DOJ has put out a proposition to the Federal Court to separate Chrome from its parent firm. This means one of the world’s most popular browsers could soon be independent from Google.

As expected, the news is not sitting down well with the Tech giant Google who called the plan radical. It went as far as to warn of the devastating impact this could have on users and the entire tech industry in the US.

The DOJ says this is the best solution to rid the company of its anti-competitive practices that it was recently found guilty of in a bombshell verdict of its long-standing trial. The DOJ filing comprised several steps that would help ensure Google’s reign in the domain of search ends. Other recommendations include taking a hard hit at its browsing services in the Android smart market.

Google labeled the proposal as staggering and one that could never benefit users. It added that the end result would hurt the entire American tech leadership. It also felt the suggestions were harsh and beyond the ideology that people would support or find useful in their everyday lives.

As per the company’s CLO, Google has worked hard over the years to attain trust from consumers. This was through the practice of using a top-quality search engine. Hence, breaking that part of the company would risk Americans’ safety as it would disclose tech, sensitive data, and any requests made during personal searches.

Furthermore, he spoke about killing any search engine deal would again be devastating in terms of competition. This includes harming other firms like Mozilla that charge the company if it wants to stay as a default in settings.

Meanwhile, the search engine giant is also not too impressed with the American government’s outreach and decision to roll out committees that oversee its approach concerning software design. This includes giving users a search engine selection across screens.

Google is clearly very frustrated and it made sure the world knew how it was not going to sit silently or be discontent about the demands made by the DOJ. Now, it’s working to file some of its own proposals to better address the court’s concerns related to monopoly behavior.
