Elon Musk’s Latest Terms of Service Are Driving Users Off The X App

Elon Musk is not going to be happy because he just rolled out a new terms of service agreement for his X platform and it’s driving users off the platform.

The latest terms of service came into play on November 15 and since then, the app has witnessed a lot of criticism, let alone a fall in users. The new agreement entails a wide array of expansive permissions that force many to share their data with the app. This will then be used for training the company’s AI models. If that’s not enough, users are liable to pay $15K in case they use the app too much.

The terms prompted many users, including those who were once hardcore fans of the platform, to leave. Many known personalities and influential users are left with no choice but to leave and seek better alternatives.

Actress Gabrielle Union was one who simply has had enough of X and its changes. She was very vocal about the matter on the platform, adding how the volatile figures were just not worth her time and patience anymore. Therefore, the day the changes were revealed was the same she made the decision to exit.

For now, it’s not clear how many users left X due to this abrupt change but it’s no surprise that Blusky is loving the decision as most are flocking to the platform as the next best alternative. Shockingly, one person shared how the only reason they have a Bluesky account today is thanks to Musk and his long love and support for President-Elect Donald Trump.

Since the start of this month, Bluesky shared how its user figures skyrocketed 651% while X recorded a 20% rise and Meta’s Threads 42%. It’s true that the former and the latter have much bigger user bases each month but the success that Bluesky is seeing is certainly eye-opening.

As far as which changes X is making that have pushed people’s buttons are concerned, well, we’ve summed them up for you below.
For starters, any content on the app will be used to train its AI models including the infamous Grok chatbot. Also, any interactions and results shared with the chatbot will be used to better its system. For now, no word on whether the private messages will be used to train the models or not but it’s definitely possible. This is why the company warns to only share or provide data that users are comfortable sharing with other people.

Secondly, the latest terms feature unusual liquidated damages. This means if a user requests, sees, or accesses more than 1M posts in 24 hours, they’re liable to be $15k in damages! We agree that most people won’t reach the limit, many digital researchers are so concerned about this. This is because they heavily focus on huge figures for public posts from X to do work.

While there are many more, these two are really not going unnoticed in the latest terms of service with some calling the move disturbing.
