Are Internet Service Providers Trapping You? FCC Demands Change in Customer Service Standards

In October of this year, the FCC expressed great concern over the poor customer service offered by many internet service providers. This includes details about how hard it was for a user to switch from one ISP to the next.

But that’s not what the ISP community believes, shunning all claims made by the FCC. They claim that the service on offer is at its best and very user-friendly. They also added how no other regulations were required to better the standard of customer service.

The FCC shared how it needed to regulate ISPs and make the entire process easier for clients to switch to another provider. They are dealing with matters where a user feels helpless and bound to stick to the same ISP which is against their rights, the FCC adds.

Remember, getting help through ISP is not as simple as it seems. Many detail it as a complex maze where you’re trying to navigate your way through chatbots and automated tools. There are delays along the way that leave many exhausted, not to mention how hard it’s become to solve the issue itself. In the end, users get so deterred that they don’t switch services, and that results in harm to the market.

The inquiry right now is linked to providing the right kind of access to client services so they interact better with service providers. This stops them from solving issues and avoiding any kind of unnecessary charge. It’s a painful experience in general and the FCC says it wants to find a better solution with regulation.

As per Lobby Group NCTA, providing the best products and services is key to a positive client experience. It’s a necessity in terms of being robust in today’s industry. So to attract and retain clients, customer support should be top-notch and user-friendly. Now new regulations would make matters worse as they micromanage providers’ operations.

Another leading lobby group that stood for the Big Comms agreed with the above. Good client service and seamless broadband was the way to go. And the high competition in the market is more than enough to ensure ISPs provide nothing less than this.

This means the demands and concerns of the FCC are not as worrisome as some might perceive them to be. The new administration might not be getting its demands met in this regard. Hence, the proceeding isn’t going to go any further here under the current chairman that Trump has selected.
