The AirTag by Apple was rolled out a few years back and since then, there have been mixed opinions about the feature.
While some continue to use it religiously, thanks to its tracking abilities, others aren’t too sure about the device. This is especially true after we heard more about how the tool has been reportedly involved in several stalking incidents and other kinds of misuse.
Keeping all of the past in mind, it looks like Apple is keen on making the tool better with changes to its privacy. The new AirTag will be tamper-proof, the company adds in this week’s Power On.
Mark Gurman spoke about the launch of the second generation of AirTag which will arrive as early as the middle of next year. It will be designed in a manner where it’s hard to remove the speaker that it comes with. Similarly, the iPhone maker is working to get rid of unwanted tracking.
This includes the addition of alerts that sound if an unknown AirTag happens to be near them. Still, experts argue that removing the speaker is not a challenge. This makes the tool-less noticeable.
Other than these little privacy changes, Apple will feature upgrades to the lineup and some changes might entail wireless chips. However, despite all these little additions, the AirTag will not be any more different than what we’re seeing right now on offer.
