Apple Begins Selling Its Own Advertising Inventory For Apple News

It looks like iPhone maker Apple’s in-house advertising efforts are on the rise.

As per a new report from Axios, the tech giant is selling its own Apple News Ads. This is a major deal because it marks a huge shift in terms of the classic advertising strategy of the company.

The Cupertino firm is now pitching new advertising units that it plans to make the most of in terms of revenue for itself and other leading publishers that it’s in collaboration with.

For now, the company hopes to pitch marketers on the latest advertising units seen on the Apple News feed as well as those on separate stories for Apple News. The project is planned to start early next year where all kinds of premium plans for editorials and curated content for trending events would be included. This might include the Met Gala and other leading sports championship events.

Other than the usual premium sponsorships, the news team at the company will pitch ideas related to banner placements and any ads on videos through different formats. This will entail carousel ads offering different products.

Publishers made it very clear how they hope to make 70% of the total revenue through ads sold by Apple alone. This is certainly a rise from the current number of ads that Apple sells through third parties.

One classic example is the partnership between Apple and Taboola. This one never seems to come to an end and therefore Apple will continue to provide many unsold advertising chances via the platform and other new partners.

Apple News first attained a lot of acclaim for the American elections at night and from what we can understand, it appears that the iPhone maker might be leaning more towards providing more customized coverage soon. This would ensure the best user experience and also ignite greater opportunities for sponsorships.

Apple is already selling its App Store ads but the matter is very limited to a few options only. So many hires pointed to a possibility of using Apple TV+ advertising soon but still, we’re yet to hear of any deals finalizing on paper.

Nevertheless, this new announcement might give the firm’s advertising teams the break they were looking for in terms of churning out the best ad-quality experiences through Apple News. for any organization in search of more ways to grow its revenue, this certainly seems to be the right move. What do you think?
