Watch Out Google and Microsoft! Meta Is Working On Its Own Search Tool For Meta AI

The thought of Meta entering the world of search may no longer be a far-fetched reality. Thanks to one recent report from The Information, we can guess that the tech giant is looking to design its own search tool powered by AI.

The goal appears to reduce reliance on the likes of Microsoft Bing and Google Search. It also follows the launch of its AI chatbot last year where it was decided at the time that Bing would be used to expand replies.

So far, Meta’s collaboration with Bing is not only with text but also with image generation. Whenever Bing is used, a link from the web is provided for context with the related query. After that, we saw Meta announce another collaboration with Google to better responses online. Hence, more links from Google were added to replies.

Now, if reports from The Information are to be trusted, Meta wants to curate its web crawler. This will rid the reliance on Google and Microsoft Bing which have stood the test of time as search partners.

Meta AI wants to keep tabs on search too and why not? It’s necessary in the world of AI and crawling the web to give conversational replies about trending events seems to be the way to go.

As it is, Meta is competing with Microsoft and Google in terms of Generative AI so why not this, right? This also means giving rise to a new and complex system for search. By this, we mean crawling the web in a manner that’s quite like Google and Bing.

Now the question is how successful can Meta get in this domain? Would it be able to come up with a powerhouse in search like its partners? Well, as per experts, it’s probably been in the works for a while now. It might have already collected a lot of data, thanks to the AI chatbot.

Whatever the case may be, it’s got some huge shoes to fill to compete with search engine giants like Google. It’s certainly a logical decision to go down this route as it provides more data for the company’s chatbot. That could really be the reason for starting this endeavor in the first place.

It’s already getting data from elsewhere so why limit reliance on others and build your own data stores, right?
