Subscription Apps are Generating Nearly Half of the Total Revenue on App Store and Play Store

According to Appfigures Intelligence, app subscription revenue is at its all time high, which is kind of surprising. All the revenue from Google Play Store and Apple App Store was divided into three categories– apps with subscription, apps with in-app purchases and paid apps to find out which category was generating the highest revenue. It was found that 45.4% of the total revenue was generated through apps with subscriptions.

It is a big surprise to a lot of people because many gaming apps haven’t even started subscription on them. Another important thing to know is that the share of subscription apps is also rising, with a 1.4% increase in August as compared to the share in May.

At the moment, there are only two apps with subscriptions among the top five highest grossing apps in the USA. The other three apps have in-app purchases. The top five apps are just mentioned to tell you how amazing it is that the subscription apps are responsible for nearly half of the revenue.

Some people may assume that there must be a lot of apps on Google Play Store and Apple App Store that are using subscriptions. But it is absolutely wrong. According to the estimates, only 3.9% apps and games on both these platforms are using subscriptions. This shows that subscription apps are becoming favorite among users.
