New Report by YouTube Talks About What Type of Content Are Viewers Interested in Watching Nowadays

In its "Why We Watch 2.0" report, YouTube has covered all the insights about what viewers want to watch. The report talks about what type of content people are seeking nowadays and what keeps people hooked into consuming the content. According to the report, most viewers say that they watch content that makes them feel a sense of belonging while most younger viewers say that they watch the content on YouTube that makes them feel seen and understood.

Majority of the viewers say that broadcasting media like watching tv makes them feel the least understood and seen with a sense of belonging. That is why YouTube says that viewers are now seeking content from online media, instead of televisions. People want high quality content, in a sense that it connects with them emotionally. 91% said that content they are watching should be meaningful with 93% saying that it should be engaging.


Viewers older than age 35 also said that the content they are watching should be trustworthy with a great storytelling. 86% said that the content should emotionally resonate with them and 90% said that the content they are watching should be relevant. Most people need human-centered content, which is being overlooked because of generative AI. Even though GenAI tools can give many amazing results, viewers need human insights too.

YouTube says that viewers who value visuals are decreasing now and now they need a deeper and emotional connection with the media they are watching. YouTube also noticed that young viewers are more interested in creativity while older viewers need accuracy in the content they are watching. Most viewers are also okay with ads if they are on a content they like. Viewers say that if the content is interesting and engaging, they don't mind the ads. Viewers are also more likely to be open to ads on YouTube than on other platforms.
