Tech giant Apple is offering a bounty reward of up to $1 million to any hacker that can enter its latest AI servers for the upcoming rollout of Apple Intelligence.
The company is requesting researchers to test the latest Private Cloud Compute feature that entails servers receiving and processing user requests for Apple Intelligence. This is for those cases when situations get too complex for processing on Apple devices.
To better address concerns linked to privacy, Apple rolled out Private Cloud Compute to delete users’ task requests, once it’s fulfilled. Furthermore, the system includes E2E encryption. This means Apple can’t uncover the users’ requests done through Apple Intelligence, even if it has full control over server hardware.
This is why the tech giant wants to make sure that it is standing firm against its claims of being the safest and private server, right before the launch of Apple Intelligence next week. While the task was limited to a small group of research experts recently, it’s now opening doors to the masses and welcoming anyone who can rise up to the challenge.
Apple says it hopes to offer great access to source codes on these servers so they’re able to analyze the tech better. They also generated a research environment that is virtual for macOS and can run Private Cloud computing software.
Meanwhile, another interesting tool is linked to security guides that entail tech details about the firm’s server system for Apple’s Intelligence. The Cupertino firm did release a statement to announce the offer. It says the Apple Security Bounty is open to the public. Anyone displaying vulnerabilities to the latest server range would get rewarded.
The rewards can entail $250K for hacking Private Cloud Compute that exposes users’ data requests. Similarly, rewards for attacking servers remotely and executing rogue codes can go up to $1 million. Anyone who shows how to attack through privileged networks will also be compensated with a lower amount.
All rewards would still be considered by the company, even if they don’t fall into any published category, the iPhone maker concluded. As per Apple, privacy and security are what the latest architecture is based on. Therefore, they are looking forward to working alongside research experts to ensure the system is reliable.
