YouTube Gives Creators More Control Over Designs For Shorts Thumbnails

Shorts is one of YouTube’s most revenue-generating features. This might be one reason why the company is offering more control to creators over the aesthetics of its thumbnails. And yes, it’s a feature that’s been in demand for a while now.

The app will provide a host of features that provide more control over Shorts thumbnails. This means you can add text, filters, and also emojis. The best bit is, it’s available for both Android and iOS users.

Creators can even select from frames seen in videos after they were uploaded. To select the thumbnail of choice, creators simply click the pencil icon found in the top left-hand side of the Short and then select the frame of choice. After selection, you can amp up the aesthetics and design with filters, text, emojis, and more by pressing the icons. Once you’re done, be sure to press the tick to save any edits made.

Creators also have the chance to select through Shorts thumbnails and make edits after the Short gets published. This was not present before.

YouTube always used to speak about how Shorts Thumbnails don’t matter a lot as they don’t pop up on the feed. Since the majority of views come from there, the platform never focused too much on thumbnail design for this reason.

But what YouTube failed to notice at the time is how they are published on search pages, audio pivots, and even hashtag pages, not to mention the creator’s channel. Hence, the update will give more command on the aesthetics of the Shorts content throughout different parts of the app.

This makes Shorts so much more appealing at first glance and is also more likely to be explored than before. The highly requested offerings have been released and the app is searching for feedback from users about it soon.
