YouTube just rolled out a new array of AI-based tools for creators. The mega unveiling was done by CEO Neal Mohan at this year’s Made on YouTube event.
The platform spoke about a host of new features that make use of Generative AI technology.
The video-sharing giant spoke about revamping the Inspiration Tab across the app’s Studio and also mentioned how it was adding tools for brainstorming that would curate a host of exciting offerings.
This includes ideas, thumbnails, titles, and some outlines. Moreover, the feature will produce ideas based on the creator’s catalog while making room for YouTube videos and those made by others.
The app is also rolling out a reply section where only AI comments will be launched. This will also give rise to recommendations for replies to comments below the creator’s video. For now, the tools are still under the experimental phase but the platform hopes to launch it in the next few months.
These offerings would make it so much simpler for creators to roll out video ideas and provide replies quickly. Now the question is if this will make activities on the app feel not as personal. For a while now, creators have talked about the significance of being unique. This includes providing great connections for fanbases to specific businesses. Hence, if you focus too much on AI, it could prove to be the opposite and harm the creator economy.
Experts have discussed how generative AI is not always a win-win situation for creators and the app. Many creators search for innovative tools to make the process of video creation simpler, they know that comes with a huge drawback.
Meanwhile, other YouTubers are worried about their content being used without consent to train other AI models. They feel it’s content theft as no compensation is provided in return.
YouTube’s CEO tried his best to address the matter. He says everything has to do with bettering human creativity. Hence, AI will only enhance creators’ work and provide benefits.
The CEO further spoke about the currently applicable Content ID copyright protection tool. It has always worked to ensure creators’ work remains safeguarded at all times as YouTube focuses on protecting copyright at all times.
In other news, Google is combining DeepMind’s tools for rolling out videos such as Veo into the popular Shorts format. This will allow creators to produce six-second-long videos with AI for posts.
