YouTube Adds New Family Center For Better Parental Control

YouTube is finally making more changes to ensure teens and minors remain under the supervision of parents while using the app.

The popular video-sharing platform just rolled out a new Family Center that allows parents to witness insights about channel activity belonging to teens. This includes more than just their browsing and viewing history. For instance, the number of uploads, any subscriptions, and even comments would come under this.

The feature works by enabling a parent to connect their account with that of a teen. Simply go to the app’s settings tab and you’ll see the option for the latest Family Center page. Here is where you can add a ‘Invite a Teen’ that uses the QR code setup.

Other than stats, both parents and teenagers will continue to get proactive email alerts when uploading videos or starting live-streaming sessions. This is designed to give the best advice on the best and most responsible creations that get support from resources made using Common Sense Networks. This is the affiliate of Common Sense Media.

The goal right now is to provide both parents and teenagers with mutual control and some more resources that ensure teenagers remain alert and informed. To be more specific, YouTube wants them to be the best digital citizens.

The entire experience is built upon the whole supervised experience for app users who come under the minor age bracket or pre-teen. This alongside YouTube Kids will reach more than 100M users that are logged in and out each month, the company added in their post.

The feature is right now working live on the app for both Android and iPhone users. There is also another option for linking that will launch around the globe this week.
