SpaceX’s Starlink Satellite Network Hits New 4 Million Customer Milestone

SpaceX’s popular and much talked about Starlink satellite internet network has a new reason to celebrate this week.

The company’s President shared some great news with lawmakers in Texas about how the firm has reached a mega customer milestone of four million users. Referring to the matter as an exciting one, the company testified more details in front of the state house appropriations committee on Thursday.

This giant milestone means SpaceX has had more than one million customers since the start of May this year. Hence, this outpaces the firm’s already huge and much talked about growth rate. Remember, the satellite service first began rolling out betas for its product in 2020 and managed to hit the one million subscriber mark at the end of December. Then in September of 2023, it crossed 3 million subscribers.

Today, the constellation features close to 6000 satellites and the service is present in close to 100 nations to separate users and big enterprise clients like popular airline groups and those related to the cruise industry.

So as you can see, this service is on the right track to success and will hope to generate $6.6B in revenue for 2024. That’s a massive rise from the $1.4B that was two years before as per the industry research and consultation company Quilty Space.

Remember, Starlink is a central option for the overall plan of SpaceX which wishes to commercialize the activity of exploring space. It does manage to get a lot of funds and investments from people around the globe, and Elon Musk is striving for more.

He thinks that more revenue from the popular internet service would assist in funding more growth of the giant reusable rocket called Starship. As a result of this, it could get Starship online and will assist the firm launch more satellites at a better speed than what’s happening right now.

Today, Starlink is a global name in the world satellite internet. Since its arrival, it gathered so much market share from legacy giants such as Viasat and SES. These operate big satellites in a bigger geostationary orbit. Moreover, there’s a giant group of more constellations that are currently in existence. This includes Amazon’s popular Project Kuiper but that’s yet to come into existence commercially.
