Is X A Safe Platform For Advertising? This New Marketing Survey Has The Answer

It wouldn’t be wrong to state that Elon Musk’s X app has struggled in terms of carving a niche for advertisers. Many have run away thanks to the tech billionaire’s ways of handling the app’s working.

This has cost the app a lot of losses as advertising revenue is the chief means of making money. However, just when you thought things were getting better and advertisers were returning comes a new report discussing the app’s advertising woes.

The latest survey from top market research company Kantar details more about how advertisers are still not happy with X. As per stats, 26% still don’t feel it’s a safe place for investments.

Moreover, a lot of advertisers are further planning to reduce ad spending on the app in 2025 and this brings the app’s trust for advertisers to a new low.

The report features interviews carried out with 18,000 consumers and nearly 1,000 marketers from all over the globe. It underscored how far the app’s ad business model had gone down with time. And it’s right after Elon Musk decided to take charge.

In the past one and a half years, Musk did see a lot of big names from the advertising world come and then leave while others simply brought spending down to a bare minimum. Most of the concerns were linked to hate speech and how toxic the platform had become in general.

Meanwhile, Musk further added fuel to the fire by antagonizing advertisers. He said brand-fearing hate speech didn’t need to work with X and also used foul language as a way to steer them away.

Similarly, Musk accused many of blackmailing the platform while taking legal action against others for carrying out illegal boycotts. To be more specific, just 4% felt X is safe for different brands today.

For now, X is remaining silent on the matter despite being requested for comments on how it felt about the survey’s results. Recently, X told the Financial Times that it offered strong safety for brands and many were aware of this. This comes alongside high usage and a boost in performance.

Now the problem many face is how the app tends to exaggerate its success and metrics so we might need to verify the claims before moving forward.
