Instagram just rolled out a new feature for Stories to enhance user interactions.
This means the app is going to give followers the chance to comment on one another’s Stories section so it’s a more interactive and community-focused activity. You can think of it like livestreaming where the user engages in big group discussions and posts comments for all to see.
Several users saw the feature and that’s when Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also issued a post of what users can expect with the latest offering.
While many might not like to see their comments on Stories posted in a separate section and would much rather keep this private, Meta is accommodating their preferences by making it optional. This means users can disable options to have comments published on Stories when and if they want.
The latest feature looks like it was inspired by the great amount of engagement done through commenting on stories. As per Instagram’s head, it’s one of the app’s most popular formats and gets more posting content than the actual main feed.
Also, a lot of users prefer to keep messages and comments direct or private so that is also called out as the top choice for engagement within closed friends circles. Hence, we can see where this addition of public comments for Stories is coming from.
Instagram is always searching for ways to boost engagement on the app. We have already seen the platform add new options like music to profiles while another called Reveal was just launched. This gives users the chance to hide Stories. If a follower wishes to see it, they can be sent a DM for greater engagement.
We’re not quite sure how Instagram’s creativity with this new public comments section for Stories is going to go down with users but we’ll keep you updated.
