Google Launches Innovative Ask Photos Feature For Limited US Users

We heard in May that Google was working on several new generative AI features including Ask Photos. Today, the company has confirmed that it’s available for a selected number of users in the US.

In case you’re wondering, the feature will be a part of Google Labs with the Android maker sharing its use and benefits through a recent blog post.

The new Gemini model facilitates Ask Photos and that means it can better comprehend what’s inside users’ photo gallery. This includes what their likes, hobbies, and interests are based on the images they have stored. It could mean analyzing your favorite color, food, and pastime through AI. similarly, it also takes out special memories and highlights information regarding a user’s life.

Users can add conversational text instead of just plain keywords to search in their photo gallery. You can request specific information about your last vacation or what you ate when you last visited a certain cafe a couple of months back.

The fact that this feature understands little details about a user’s life is fascinating. In case it cannot find what you’re looking for, speak to it like a human and you’ll be impressed with how quickly you’ll get a desirable result.

Other examples of what a user can do through Ask Photos include becoming more organized with Top 10 lists or sharing memories with contacts that are special to you all.

From what we can tell, it’s innovation at its best and Google wants to show how great the Gemini AI chatbot is. For now, the feature is only a beta for a small number of users. The search engine giant confirmed that once it gets everything right, it will carry out a global release.

For now, we’ll just need to keep our eyes open and wait for feedback from others using it. Keeping in mind the AI race and fierce competition from others, we can see why Google is working hard to launch innovative and unique offerings.

We can confirm that Ask Photos is rolling out in English for both Android and Apple users. It hopes to include more languages in the next few weeks so it’s easily accessible to all. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated when the global release takes place.
