US 5G SA Speeds Surge; T-Mobile's Average Hits 363.53 Mbps, Up from 2023 Levels

Ookla’s news report talks about 5G StandAlone (SA) performance in different parts of the USA and how it is better than the overall 5G network. The report indicates that the internet speed after 5G SA has increased a lot since 2023 because the demand for faster performance has also grown a lot. The only parts of the world who have implemented this fast internet technology are the USA and South East Asia. T-mobile is the only major service provider in the USA which has launched 5G SA technology.

T-mobile claims that their internet speed is 3.3 Gbps but according to Ookla, the average or median speed is 363.53 Mbps which is about 10% of the fastest speed. It is faster than 279.44 Mbps in 2023 and in 2024, the 5G speed is about 77 Mbps faster than last year. On the other hand, Brazil saw a drop in its 5G SA speed from 543.04 Mbps in 2023 to 474.65 Mbps in 2024. Canada has a median 5G speed of 248.99 Mbps which is faster than 149.49 Mbps in 2023.

In the Asian Pacific Region, South Korea is at the top with 729 Mbps, followed by Singapore (517.73 Mbps) and Macau (428.98 Mbps). Japan, China, Hong Kong and Australia are also among countries with the fastest 5G speed. If you have T-Mobile service, you can turn on 5G SA by going to your mobile settings.
