OpenAI Celebrates New Milestone As ChatGPT Hits 200 Million Users

OpenAI has another reason to celebrate. This time around, it’s linked to ChatGPT’s widespread popularity.

The company just confirmed that its popular AI offering has just hit 200 million active users. This is close to double what we saw just ten months back. In addition to that, the company confirmed that it has 92% of Fortune 500 companies making use of its tools. As you can imagine, it’s a major milestone to have so many firms accepting OpenAI with open arms.

For now, it’s not clear how many of those companies are solely making use of ChatGPT as there are plenty of other offerings from OpenAI like Whisper and Codex. We’re also not sure if the leads are coming from enterprise accounts or free ones. Whatever the case might be, the news is major. The company has certainly cracked the code to success in the US market.

ChatGPT Enterprise’s first anniversary celebrations were going strong and now ChatGPT will also be heading close to its own second anniversary celebrations. Today, the tool is called the fastest product in the tech world to hit 100 million users ever. We are yet to see the company confirm these figures directly but again, it’s a historic milestone and very believable.

The news about ChatGPT’s recent milestone was first published by the company’s GTM lead on LinkedIn. He highlighted how important customers are for the company and the same goes for the employees. The benefits of ChatGPT were also briefly summarised in the post including how much it’s simplified our daily lives.

The company hopes the tool can be integrated into the company’s daily workflow to handle more complex tasks. Clearly, ChatGPT is the one to beat and while other tech giants did roll out their offerings, nothing seems too close to it.

Still, competition does exist and nothing can be ignored in this cutthroat race of the tech world. Plenty of chatbots continually get launched, not to mention LLMs and MMs which entail powerful features as alternatives to ChatGPT.

We last saw OpenAI report 100 million active weekly users in 2023 and since then, we’ve seen it reach new heights and more milestones despite new models launching each day.
