New Study Shows How SearchGPT Can Redefine The World Of Search By Disrupting Organic Search Patterns

A new study is shedding light on the capabilities of SearchGPT and how it can revolutionize the world of search by disrupting organic search patterns.

The researchers took replies to queries from the tool into consideration and then highlighted how that could affect publishers, e-commerce, and even B2B websites. Their conclusions spoke about some major differences between the tool, Google’s AI Overviews, and AI search startup Perplexity.

SearchGPT is OpenAI’s answer to Google that makes use of AI from recent online data so that users get the most updated and accurate answers naturally. It also includes citations linked to online sources.

For now, OpenAI is yet to provide details about how the search engine gets online data but since it’s making use of AI models it’s likely linked to RAG. This connects indexed material online to AI language models so you get more access to data that it didn’t receive any training for.

BrightEdge says it made use of research tools for search that were made for enterprise users. This would highlight any search opportunities and content as well as trends linked to competitors. All the replies from the different search competitors/tools were evaluated and each match made was further studied for its comprehension, answer sourcing, and how they approached a question.

The results were tallied and the authors summarized them. For starters, SearchGPT and AI Overviews from Google were compared. While the former gave more complex and detailed answers, Google’s AIO had concise responses and was more up-to-date with current trends.

As per authors at BrightEdge, SearchGPT is better for deeper study while Google is an idea for short and quick replies that are more in line with today’s time.

Next, SearchGPT was studied against Perplexity. While the AI startup Perplexity gave concise and topic-specific replies, it was more like an answer engine that shared strengths with Google’s AIO. A biased and more immediate reply was seen here.

As SearchGPT appears more in tune with research today, it carries a bigger edge as it’s more comprehensive and trustworthy for deeper studies. If you need a summary report, Perplexity is your call.

Now can SearchGPT by OpenAI be Google’s competitor? The answer as per this study is kind of no for now! The company stated on day one that it wants to include this search engine in the already popular ChatGPT tool and not offer it as a standalone venture. But we cannot deny that these two offerings by OpenAI combined into one will certainly disrupt classic organic search patterns.

Google has really exhausted many of us with a long list of ads, data tracking, and more. So if people can get quicker and to-the-point answers from OpenAI’s SearchGPT, they’re more than happy to accept it.

As per the authors in this BrightEdge research, the biggest advantage of SearchGPT is trustworthy research. It makes a lot more sense as it would serve as one of the biggest competitors to organic search.
