Mark Zuckerberg is giving the world insights about Meta’s future plans. And in case you’re wondering, AI is going to take over the company.
The news comes after an interview with the CEO at South Park Commons. This is where Zuckerberg shared long-term insights and how AI would rule the company in all of its aspects. Some discussions were related to the future of the metaverse and AR glasses.
In general, he says that social media will evolve to include AI as if feeds were not already being ruled by AI-generated content. He reaffirmed that feeds were transformed with content that aligned with users' likes and interests. But that’s just the first shift. Another one will come soon where videos get replaced by AI material.
We’re not sure if that’s a great thing. AI is flooded on our feeds as it is. Do we really need more content that dubs trash or garbage? Remember, images and videos produced by robots cannot compare to human intervention. To imagine that this is the start of an AI shift and there’s more to come is scary.
Facebook is in the making of preparing for more AI content that would certainly benefit it as a whole. But not just here, Zuckerberg says AI will be valuable in other places.
It’s a trend and he sees it helping to add great dimensions to the VR worlds and of course the metaverse. With time, he predicts the VR trend will gain more traction and people will engage a lot with immersive environments.
Only then can we say that Meta’s billion-dollar investments do make sense. The metaverse has made its mark in the world and given rise to a new universe. Clearly, Meta’s ambitions related to the AI world are plenty and Zuckerberg’s enthusiasm is proof of that.
As we speak, Meta’s AI chatbot has come close to being the most used and popular one around the globe. So the push for AI is having a positive outcome so far.
The only question that’s left to ask ourselves is if we really need a Facebook where everything is full of AI slop pictures and text replies are AI-generated? It’s a concerning shift that Meta is promising and it doesn’t seem like everyone is interested.
