Google and TikTok Fined By Russia For Failing To Comply With Banned Content Orders

Russia is making Google and TikTok pay a penalization fee because both platforms failed to comply with the latest order that arose from the nation’s communications regulator.

This was regarding banned content, as mentioned in a new press statement from Moscow.

The capital district court in Moscow rolled out a fine worth $58,038 for Google and a similar fee for TikTok for repeatedly not complying. They were also accused of not identifying content that was ordered for immediate removal in the past as well.

For now, both tech giants are yet to roll out responses on this front for comments.

The news is not surprising as Russia has had issues with many tech giants and respective platforms that fail to comply with its ever-changing rules and regulations. It refers to such actions as illegal and time and time again, small fines have been rolled out where there seems to be zero compliance.

To be more specific, Moscow is very critical of search engine giant Google for removing channels on YouTube that belong to the Russian media and other top public figures.
