Google Maps Gets Six New Exciting Features For Users In India

Google Maps in India is getting a revamp with six new exciting features.

The company announced the news through a blog post today where it says that it would be adding support for various endeavors including incident reports for Android Auto which has been in demand for years.

The offerings are only specific to the Indian region and would mostly entail features that have to do with the infrastructure and geography of that part of the world. Common examples discussed included Flyover routes to better avoid traffic congestion and bottlenecks when on the road.

Maps will even display notices related to narrow roads that make use of AI to see a road’s width. This would take into consideration factors like images from satellites, good old Street View, and even more information so that those on the road can face a seamless driving experience.

The statistics would allow drivers to adjust their routes and travel times in a way that depends on whether they’re driving two-wheel vehicles or four-wheel ones.

Google mentioned how features like this were curated taking India into consideration and therefore would be up for grabs on Android devices and the Android Auto app in 40 cities across the nation by this week’s end. Support for CarPlay and iPhones would soon be arriving, it explained.

In other news, the tech giant is working on an expansion for the EV charging stations. This would also include the arrival of two-wheel EVs inside this mix. Meanwhile, Google Maps would also entail support for metro ticket bookings via ONDC and Namma Yatri starting this week’s end.

In the same manner, Google Maps would produce a new offering called Favorite Spots that is located in various communities locally.

The latest update seems like it might go worldwide at a later date. For now, Google is simplifying the whole process of reporting road accidents to ensure it just has a few taps with further confirmation from another’s report generated on the same front. Again, a single tap is required here.

This would be launching throughout all of its platforms in India which is interesting. Before, it was limited to just Android but it looks like things are picking up the pace in the nation whose IT sector is booming.
