Circle To Search Makes Its Way To ChromeOS and Chrome As New 'Drag To Search' Feature

In January of this year, we heard about Google joining hands with South Korean tech giant Samsung to roll out a new feature called Circle to Search.

The innovative feature would then make its way to the company’s Tablet and today, we’re talking about a very useful functionality where users can search for anything they like by simply putting a circle around text and pictures across the screens on smart devices to attain results.

So many rumors started to go strong in terms of how it would soon become a part of Google Lens that entails photo recognition features enabling a new dynamic option for Circle to Search through the Chrome browser.

Today, it’s back and has made its way as a beta on ChromeOS 127 and 128. Those that have the newest variant of the Chrome browser across Windows PC can now look for anything and everything on screens by just putting a circle on what they’re in search of.

On ChromeOS, the feature is called Drag to Search which enables clicking on the latest Google Lens icon present inside address bars or just selecting the option designated as Search with Lens through the menu.

When you select any area across a screen to carry a search, this would make the sidebar for search bigger featuring results. Moreover, this gives rise to users continuing with the option to browse via the open tab.

This was mostly made known by Google and Samsung through a long list of marketing campaigns that they each generated separately. A lot of the experts and reps from both tech giants speak about how big of a revolution this can turn out to be in the world of search through Android devices.

It’s simple in terms of usage but what about its capabilities is a question worth pondering upon.

Interestingly, experts have given a two thumbs up because it can generate quick results and that really says a lot about what else it’s capable of. There is worry about how it could fall out of the public interest quite fast but with the latest drag to search rollout, that fear is slowly getting extinguished.

Those users who are already familiar with using the circle to search feature will have a fun and great time with the Drag to Search endeavor. It’s present across more devices and that means more people can benefit from it.

Remember, the world of AI is really taking over the world and as we speak, it’s getting more ingrained in all of our lives. Did we mention how Google’s own chatbot Gemini keeps getting better?

The latest on the Gemini front has to do with the chatbot getting its own version of Circle to Search and Drag for Search. It’s based on the Sketch to Image feature present across all Samsung Galaxy AI devices.
