Next up, the CashNetUSA researchers looked for the most disproportionately popular soft skill in every US state. This simply means the soft skills that are in demand at a higher rate than the national average.This approach threw up some interesting results. For example, there's a disproportionate demand for active listeners in New York state, while companies in Massachusetts are seeking candidates who can make big things happen and stay humble about it.
Companies in four states believe that patience is not just a virtue; it's also a super important soft skill. Patience is the most disproportionately sought-after soft skill in Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Missouri.
Most in-demand soft skills in US states
Resilience is one of the most underrated soft skills. It's also one that all the best business leaders and founders have. Did you know that Bill Gates' first business ventures were an absolute failure? Or how everyone called Jeff Bezos' plans to sell books online a passing fad?Resilience is key to long-term success, which is why it's now the most in-demand soft skill in Iowa, Louisiana, and Florida. On average, it appears in around half of all Indeed job adverts for jobs with a high starting salary in these states.
Big tech companies are always pushing the boundaries, and the need for constant innovation in Silicon Valley makes it the most sought-after soft skill in California.

Knowing how to think strategically is the key to landing a high-paying job in New York. This super-valuable soft skill is now in the required skill section of almost 7 out of 10 high-paying jobs in New York advertised on Indeed.Soft skill requirements in Los Angeles
