Here Are the Top 10 AI Tools in 2024

ChatGPT came onto the scene with an enormous splash, and about a year later, it brings in a whopping 1.7 billion monthly active users with all things having been considered and taken into account. This places it even higher than Netflix, which receives 1.5 billion active users on a monthly basis, and it bears mentioning that many other AI tools aren’t all that far behind.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that ChatGPT is the top ranked AI tool of all, with Bing AI coming in second. This integrates the GPT chatbot into Bing search in order to give users a better experience than might have been the case otherwise.

Coming in at number three is Grammarly AI, which is a tool that checks your writing in real time and gives you tips about how you can go about improving it. Character.AI came in fourth, with the over 18 million AI characters it allows you to chat with providing a uniquely social AI based experience.

Google’s answer to ChatGPT Bard came in fifth, followed by Brainly in sixth place. This latter AI tool allows students to just send in a picture of their homework and it will provide whatever help they might need at this current point in time.

CourseHero is another important tool that came in seventh place, which offers a similar type of help by enabling students to provide their textbook and let the AI tool explain anything that they are struggling with. At number 8, the programming tool known as Replit has made it considerably easier for coders to deploy web apps, and it’s followed by the AI detection software known as TurnItIn in 9th place. Rounding off the top ten list is Deep AI, an image generator that can generate images based on prompts.

If we look at general purpose AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, the OpenAI product receives 76% of all web traffic going to these tools, followed by Bing AI at 16%, Bard at 7%, and Claude at 1%. Grammarly is part of the writing and editing category, and if we exclude this particular tool, Simplify.AI comes out on top with 26%, followed by ZeroGPT with 13%, and Copy.AI WriteSonic with 11% apiece.
As for Character.AI, it falls under the category of social and chatting tools, and it is by far the most popular tool in its respective category. It receives an estimated 89% share of total web traffic going towards social and chatting AI tools, with AI chatting coming in at a distant second with just 5%.

The final category included in this list is that of educational tools such as Brainly, which received 42% of web traffic, followed by CourseHero with 36%, and TurnItIn with 17%. The English language coach ELSA also received a 5% share.

This just goes to show how diverse AI has ended up becoming, with a variety of different tools for general purpose usage as well as increasingly specific niches such as education, proofreading, and socializing. It will be interesting to see where things go from here on out, since AI is showing no signs of slowing down.
