Elon Musk recently stated that X has less antisemitic content than other social media apps. The owner of X shared this information at a conference in the southern Polish city of Krakow.
The discussion at the conference focused on the increase in discriminating content over the internet following the conflict between Israel and Hamas that began in October.
Last year, X was criticized for playing a significant role when Musk seemed to agree with a user who shared an antisemitic conspiracy theory. This led to some major advertisers halting or reducing their spending on the platform.
During the conference, Musk stated that X will always prioritize free speech. However, he believes that incorrect information should be fact-checked. He mentioned audits conducted by external sources have shown X to have the least antisemitism compared to other social media apps. Musk made these comments during an interview with Ben Shapiro, a US conservative journalist.
Musk did not disclose the specifics of these audits or who conducted them and chose not to respond to direct inquiries from other journalists.
When asked how he balances free speech with the need to address hate speech, Musk retained his support for free speech. He explained that on the social media channel, if someone posts false information, others can immediately respond with a correction.
