Content creation has gone from being a long shot to a viable career path thanks to platforms like YouTube, and some content creators have made millions by posting their content online. With the 2023 Streamy Awards recently crowning certain creators as the cream of the crop, which saw Mr. Beast win the coveted Creator of the Year award, it might be useful to take a look at which creators are earning the most.
With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that Mr. Beast, which is the online pseudonym of Jimmy Donaldson, came out on top with $54 million dollars in 2021 alone. Danielle Bregoli, also known as Bhad Bhabie, came in second with $51 million, although her earnings came from OnlyFans rather than YouTube.
The rest of the entrants in the top five list are all YouTube veterans, with the controversial creator known as Jake Paul coming in third with $45 million. Following this, Mark Edward Fishbach, better known as Markiplier, reached fourth place with $38 million. The YouTube creator duo Rhett and Link, best known for Good Mythical Morning, ranked fifth with $30 million.
In spite of the fact that this is the case, another creator from Instagram also tied for fifth place with $30 million, namely Elliot Tebele. He runs the account “F*ck Jerry”, but he’s also the only Instagram creator to reach the top ten.
Following Tebele, YouTubers came into the mix again starting with Nathan Johnson Graham, who runs the “Unspeakable” channel, ranking seventh with $28.5 million. Ryan Kaji of Ryan’s World fame shows the of kid centered content, raking in a whopping $27 million in 2021 alone.
In ninth place, Alexandra Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast showed how much Spotify can earn you, since she brought in $20 million. Finally, Charli D’Amelio cast the spotlight on TikTok with her tenth place ranking, earning approximately $17.5 million in 2021. Interestingly, Twitter is completely absent from this list, although that might change with Elon Musk’s new approach to managing the platform with a content first strategy.
